As Product Developer, you will be part of Alpro’s Research & Innovation team, which is part of Danone’s worldwide community. You are responsible for the development of highly performing new products and the improvement of existing products, within the spoonable (fermented and desserts) product group, by using existing technology and by defining needs on process parameters within the new technology. You ensure that the products fulfill the consumer’s needs while guaranteeing robust feasibility within the different production plants. You are based in Wevelgem (Belgium) and are flexible to travel across the globe. As Product Developer you report directly to Senior product developer within the spoonable category.

About the job- You are actively involved in cross-functional development & improvement projects and you are responsible for the product specification definition. The product development track is defined from pilot testing till industrial validation. Knowledge and insight on ingredients/recipe and on processing are the basis.
- You use different techniques, such as problem solving and analytical analysis, to support the development track, to increase insights and anticipation and to shorten lead times. You may also introduce and install new supportive tools.
- You advise and support internal departments on the basis of your in-depth knowledge on ingredients and recipes towards a continuous improvement of our product range.
- In order to work in multidisciplinary teams, you build excellent interdepartmental relationships.
- As a true gatekeeper, you build & maintain excellent relationships with external parties: external labs and suppliers in order to broaden our internal knowledge.
- You broaden your knowledge on ingredients, technology and the market based on literature, fairs, meetings with suppliers, training, etc.
- You are a fixed member of our internal taste panel.
In order to be successful in this role, we believe:
- You hold a Masters degree as Food Engineer/Scientist.
- You preferably already have a first experience in product development in the food industry.
- A first experience with fermentation and other bioprocesses is a plus.
- You are flexible to travel within Europe
- You have a strong interest in developing food products.
- You are result-oriented and have an entrepreneurial spirit
- You are a persuasive and enthusiastic person, with strong interpersonal skills.
- You are a team player with a hands-on mindset and positive drive.
- You have good project management skills.
- You are fluent English. Knowledge of Dutch, French and Spanish is a plus.
- MS Office is not new for you.
