The secret to our success is our people. While we are ordinary people, we are not all the same. We welcome diversity, in all its forms, in fact we consider it a strength. Join us and work at the heart of national security to protect New Zealand and New Zealanders.
The NZ Intelligence Community (NZIC) is a vibrant, rapidly evolving community with a collective mission to keep New Zealand safe from foreign and domestic threats.
Our Technology Directorate, which serves GCSB, NZSIS and the wider NZIC, is at the forefront of making sure our people are connected across the mission and have the information, tools and support they need to succeed.
As Technical Team Leader, Application Support & Development you will be responsible for leading, developing and managing staff who support, maintain and develop systems within the Technology Directorate. This includes software development, deployment, integration, testing and management. You will also operate as the technical lead and subject matter expert in providing end-to-end advice and support in respect of one or more areas of software development, technical integration, or testing.
To be successful in this role, you will be experienced in:
Computing, information technology, cryptographic or telecommunications including solid experience as a software developer, test lead or equivalent technical role
Managing and motivating a high performing technical team
Development and deployment, or testing experience, for large software solutions (desirable)
Project management of civil/mechanical/electrical and/or information technology engineering projects (desirable)
Effectively communicating with stakeholders at all levels
This position will head up a talented team of both testers and developers, so we welcome a leader who considers themselves a subject matter expert in one or more of software development, testing, or technical integration.
If you are self-motivated, organised, have a strong service delivery ethic and have the pragmatism to balance operational imperative, with security discipline, this is the role for you!
We offer comprehensive benefits, flexibility and work-life balance. If you have questions about working with us, we've busted the most common myths - check out our myth busting booklet https://beyondordinary.nzic.govt.nz/mythbusting
